ROAR’S WISHLIST
1. Uniforms for students of Linganwe School who do not currently have them. By January 2009, ROAR purchase uniforms for 500 students at Linganwe School. ROAR aims to continue to raise funds to purchase uniforms on a regular basis.

2. Shoes for all students of Linganwe School. In February 2010, ROAR just managed to raise funds to purchase shoes for 1038 students at Linganwe school. ROAR aims to continue to raise funds to purchase shoes on a regular basis.

3.Health cards for all students. Due to extreme poverty in the area, many children do not have access to medical facilities. ROAR will continue to raise funds to obtain and maintain annual health care cards for more than 1000 students at Linganwe School. ROAR aims to continue to raise funds to purchase health cards for newly enrolled students.

4. Fresh clean water by means of a community well. Local engineers, the community and workers came together to build the well in Linganwe school. The school shares the new facilities with the local village.

5. Farming Project. Local engineers are working with community to establish a local farm where kids can learn sustainable living.
Project Status : Project ommenced in January 2013 with an estimated cost of $12,000.
6. Sanitation program. We plan to provide fresh water facilities and teach hygiene to the children and local villagers.
Project Status : Project commencement in 2013 at an estimated cost of $1600.
Teaching aids: Text books, Exercise books, Writing materials, Maps and Charts (Rwanda, Africa and the World), Dictionaries (both English and French), books of grammar (English and French), posters (Maths, Health, and Science etc).

6. Feeding programs providing a basic lunch for the children who attend school. With the school located in an agricultural area, we plan to use local farmers and local businesses to supply Linganwe School with produce, which would also support the local community.
Project Status: Proposed date to commence this project is December 2015.
7. Buy sporting equipment such as soccer balls and basket balls. The teachers of Linganwe School have indicated that a lot of learning happens in an informal learning setting. It provides a means for children to learn social and communication skills, helping build friendships, kinship bonds and community reconciliation, important, especially following the aftermath of the 1994 genocide.

8. Build a basic cottage for all ROAR volunteers within Rwanda and those travelling from Australia to Rwanda to visit the Linganwe school. We aim to develop and implement “Train the Trainer” programs where qualified Teachers and Trainers from Australia can contribute on a voluntary basis, by training local teachers and by teaching English to the children of Linganwe School.

9. Build an art school for the children of Linganwe School. The idea is to try and get children to paint or do other craft works that ROAR could sell here in Australia with the hope it will generate income to continue to support the school. We are intending to sell some of the artwork to big children clothes designers and get them to donate a % back to ROAR of any sale they make.

10. Set up scholarship funds for the top 10 children who score above 80% in the final year, giving them the opportunity to enrol and continue their education in high school. ROAR aims to pay the school fees for these students who would not be able to consider high school without our support.
